Reiki can help you prepare for and recover from surgery

For many people, preparing for surgery causes fear and / or anxiety and recovering from surgery is physically and mentally challenging. Reiki, an energy healing technique, is an excellent complementary therapy to your surgical preparation and recovery.  Through light touch, or no touch at all, a Reiki practitioner feels into your internal energy system which triggers a relaxation response in your nervous system.

For any surgical procedure, incorporating self care therapies that complement traditional medical practices are critical to the healing process. Many hospitals around the world incorporate Reiki (see the studies listed below) into the surgical process.   Prior to surgery Reiki helps to alleviate anxiety and stress and helps your body prepare for surgery.  After surgery Reiki helps to reduce pain, blood pressure and anxiety and supports your body's natural healing process by initiating physiological responses that regulate your immune system.

Below are a number of scientific studies published in respected, peer-reviewed medical journals that measure the health impact of Reiki treatments on surgical patients. If you are considering integrating Reiki as a complementary therapy in your surgical journey, please take time to review these articles and don't hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have.
